After Beijing and Moscow, Central Asia’s Leaders Look to Washington

by admin477351

After high-level talks in Beijing and Moscow, the leaders of Central Asia are now looking to Washington, with a US-hosted summit reportedly planned for November 6.

This meeting, confirmed by the leaders of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, underscores the new geopolitical reality for the C5. They are no longer solely in Russia’s orbit.

The war in Ukraine has prompted the five former Soviet states to diversify their foreign policy. This has sparked a competition for influence, with the US, China, and the EU all vying for favor.

The region is rich in natural resources, including rare earths, and has the potential to become a vital logistics corridor, making it a key strategic prize.

This summit, though not yet officially announced by the White House, signals a clear American intent to re-engage with a region at the crossroads of global power.
