Netanyahu Defiant at UN, Calls Palestinian Statehood ‘Insane’

by admin477351

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adopted a defiant and uncompromising tone at the United Nations, labeling the international push for a Palestinian state as “insane” just days after several key allies officially recognized Palestine. His address was a direct challenge to the 157 UN members that now support Palestinian sovereignty.

The speech triggered a significant diplomatic protest, with representatives from over 50 countries walking out. Those who remained, including the United States and the United Kingdom, were reportedly represented by lower-ranking diplomats. Netanyahu dismissed the public criticism, claiming that in private, many world leaders express gratitude for Israel’s security contributions.

On the military front, Netanyahu was resolute, vowing to continue the offensive in Gaza to dismantle what he termed the “final remnants of Hamas” in Gaza City. He presented this as a necessary action to prevent a recurrence of the October 7 attacks, ignoring international warnings of a deepening humanitarian catastrophe.

The address also contained a direct ultimatum to Hamas leaders, demanding the immediate release of all hostages. “If you do, you will live. If you don’t, Israel will hunt you down,” he warned. The speech coincided with protests across New York City and reports of over 22 fatalities in Gaza from recent Israeli strikes.
