Range Rover has taken a significant leap into the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first fully electric SUV in the UK. Priced from £154,070, the new model is now available for order, with the first customer deliveries slated for 2027. This new addition to their lineup will be produced at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull facility, underscoring the company’s commitment to transitioning towards electric mobility.

The luxury electric SUV boasts impressive performance figures, driven by two electric motors that together generate up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque. It promises swift acceleration, capable of reaching 0 to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds. With a claimed range of up to 372 miles according to the WLTP testing cycle, it aims to deliver both powerful performance and long-distance capability.

Centrally powering the Range Rover Electric is a 118.5kWh battery that supports 800-volt charging technology. This allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes when optimal charging conditions are met. Such rapid charging capability is designed to enhance convenience for users while maintaining the vehicle’s luxury standards.

In terms of design, the new electric Range Rover maintains the brand’s hallmark luxury aesthetic and off-road prowess. The vehicle’s electric powertrain is complemented by enhanced aerodynamic features, and it retains the ability to wade through water up to 900mm deep, ensuring it remains versatile across various terrains.

The development and testing of the Range Rover Electric have taken several years, with production support from Jaguar Land Rover’s Wolverhampton facility, where battery packs and electric drive units are manufactured. This strategic infrastructure underscores the brand’s dedication to building a robust electric vehicle ecosystem.
